Tracey Emin
Only God Knows I’m good
Lehmann Maupin – 201 Chrystie Street
Until December 19, 2009
What is it like to draw a line, a body, a memory? New work by artist Tracey Emin brings the answer to this drawing question into 3-d focus using embroidery, neon light and wood sculpture. Also presented in this exhibition are mono-prints and an animation containing sexually-explicit material.
Through all of the trials that the artist has experienced throughout her life, she’s maintained a fidelity to her artwork, saying “Every image has first entered my mind, travelled through my heart, my blood - arriving at the end of my hand. Everything has come through me.” In this insightful interview that appeared in the Guardian in May 2009, she chooses her six favorite works: “Ghosts of My Past”.

Here is a very thorough video from Marcelo’s Art Vlog of the exhibition currently on view at Lehmann Maupin. (Contains sexually-explicit material).
